Ellaone
An emergency hormonal contraceptive, this product is used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex, or after a primary contraceptive method has failed. It contains the agent ulipristal acetate, and is thought to work by stopping the release of eggs from the ovaries, and by changing conditions in the uterus to make egg development more difficult.
Once it has been deemed suitable, this treatment should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex has occurred, and no later than 120 hours afterwards. As with all hormonal contraceptives, it is not effective in 100 per cent of cases, even though it may have been correctly applied. It is vital to ensure you are not already pregnant before taking this treatment.
