Synphase
Synphase is a contraceptive pill produced by Pharmacia Ltd. Like other oral birth control treatments, it contains two synthetic hormones, ethinylestradiol and norethisterone. These ingredients act in a similar manner to the naturally occurring hormones oestrogen and progesterone. It helps to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting the release of eggs from the ovary. This product also works by making the uterine lining less receptive to egg implantation and development, and also by increasing the thickness of vaginal fluid, making it harder for sperm to travel inside the womb.
This treatment has very specific application instructions which should be carefully followed. As with any hormonal contraceptive, this product does not provide 100 per cent guaranteed protection against pregnancy. You should always consider using a barrier contraceptive, such as a condom, as an additional precautionary measure.
