Ovranette
This product is a birth control medication, but is also used to treat a number of conditions. It is produced by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and contains the ingredients ethinylestradiol and levonogestrel. These ingredients work in a similar way to the naturally occurring hormones oestrogen and progesterone. They prevent pregnancy by: stopping the release of eggs from the ovary; altering the lining of the uterus so an egg cannot develop; and thickening vaginal fluid to make it harder for sperm to travel inside the womb.
As with any hormonal contraceptive, this product has very specific application instructions which must be carefully followed. No hormonal contraceptive provides 100 per cent guaranteed protection against pregnancy. You should always consider using a barrier contraceptive, such as a condom, as an additional precautionary measure.
