Microgynon 30

Microgynon 30 is a contraceptive treatment. It contains ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel, and these agents work by mimicking the action of progesterone and oestrogen, two hormones already present in the body. This contraceptive works by altering the normal process of menstruation, preventing the ovaries from releasing eggs. It also changes the lining of the uterus, thereby making it more difficult for an egg to develop.

Some packs of this medication only contain the 21 active tablets, while other packs contain these and seven additional inactive tablets (or placebos) to aid with routine and help ensure accuracy. The application instructions for this medication are very specific and should always be carefully followed. As with any hormonal contraceptive, this product does not provide 100 per cent guaranteed protection against pregnancy. You should always consider using a barrier contraceptive, such as a condom, as an additional precautionary measure.
