Loestrin 20
Loestrin 20 is a contraceptive pill. It contains the ingredients ethinylestradiol and norethisterone acetate, two synthetic hormones which perform in a similar way to oestrogen and progesterone. It works to prevent pregnancy by stopping the release of eggs from the ovary, and altering the lining of the uterus in order to make conditions harder for an egg to develop. It also increases the density of vaginal fluid, and this makes it harder for sperm to travel inside the womb. Because of its relatively low dosage level, the risk of side effects is lower compared to some other treatments containing higher doses.
This product comes with very specific application instructions which must be attentively followed. As with any contraceptive treatment, this product is not 100 per cent guaranteed to prevent pregnancy, even where it has been correctly applied.
