Cilest
This product is a contraceptive pill, produced by Janssen-Cilag Limited. The active ingredients contained in this treatment are ethinylestradiol and norgestimate, synthetic agents which are designed to imitate the actions of two naturally occurring hormones in the body, progesterone and oestrogen. These agents prevent women from becoming pregnant by stopping their ovaries from freeing eggs. By altering the lining inside the uterus, Cilest also decreases the likelihood of an egg developing, and makes it harder for sperm to travel inside the womb by thickening vaginal fluid.
This product has very specific application instructions which must be carefully followed. As with any hormonal contraceptive, this product does not provide 100 per cent guaranteed protection against pregnancy. You should always consider using a barrier contraceptive, such as a condom, as an additional precautionary measure.
We realise birth control is important in helping to give you piece of mind. If you are looking for the contraceptive treatment which is right for you, Express Doctor may be able to help.
