Ovysmen

Ovysmen is a contraceptive pill produced by Janssen-Cilag Ltd. It contains ethinylestradiol and norethisterone, synthetic agents which work in a similar way to oestrogen and progesterone, which are naturally occurring hormones. These agents help to prevent pregnancy in three ways: by stopping the release of eggs from ovary; increasing the density of vaginal fluid to make it harder for sperm to travel inside the womb; and altering the endometrium (lining of the uterus) so an egg cannot develop.

This treatment has very specific application instructions which must be carefully adhered to. As with any hormonal contraceptive, this product does not provide 100 per cent guaranteed protection against pregnancy. You should always consider using a barrier contraceptive, such as a condom, as an additional precautionary measure.
